Fruit options for vegan chia jam:
The key to D-LISH jam is of course the fruit! The fruit is going to make up the majority of this jam. I know you’re probably thinking, yeah of course it’s made from fruit, it’s a jam. But the truth is, most store-bought jams are made with only a mall percent of real fruit and the rest is filled with sugar!
Some of our favorite fruit flavors are:
- cherry
- strawberry
- blueberry
- peach
- blackberry
- mixed berry: raspberry, blackberry, strawberry, and blueberry
How to make a vegan jam?
Literally, this jam is so easy! All you need is 3 ingredients because water doesn’t count right? Plus, once you learn easy vegan jam is to make, I bet you won’t ever buy store-bought again either.
First, bring water and your fruit of choice (in this case cherries) to a boil. Reduce the heat and let simmer for 5 minutes on low heat.
Next, remove the fruit mix and place it in a blender. Or if you don’t have a blender just use a fork and press the fruit flat. Pulse two to four times to smash the fruit. Transfer the fruit mixture back to a saucepan.
Next, stir in maple syrup and chia seeds.
Finally, pour chia mixture into a glass jar, seal, and refrigerate for an hour until firm.
Take your new vegan chia jam out of the fridge and enjoy it! See how easy that was?
How to store jam?
The best way to store this jam is in the fridge in an airtight container. Because it doesn’t contain any preservatives, it won’t last as long as your traditional store-bought jam. It should stay fresh for 7-10 days when left in the fridge.
